Mahoning County libraries offers kindergarten program
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County is offering kindergarten readiness stations during library hours at each branch, including Sebring and Greenford, during February. The stations feature activities for parents and preschool children to complete together.
February stations focus on cognitive skills, including the development of memory, symbolic thought, reasoning and problem-solving.
Before kindergarten, children should be able to communicate about past events and anticipate what comes next during familiar routines and experiences. They should also be able to solve everyday problems based upon past experiences. The kindergarten readiness stations offer fun activities to build these skills.Working on these skills now will help children be ready to learn when they get to school.
